“Everything I touch - I want it to go platinum, “ explains Lil’ Mac (A.K.A. Miguel Mc Cray).
And going platinum isn’t that far-fetched, especially considering the recent success of the Louisiana native debut single, “Parlayin’ Til the Break of Dawn” - featuring Little Ke-Ke and Slim Thug.
“Growing up in Ferriday, Louisiana (a small town, located an hour from New Orleans), we didn’t hear a lot of music. All I would do was write poetry about the stuff I went through, tough stuff - things only God could keep me strong through, “ recalls Lil’ Mac,” and then, I was introduced to rap music from hanging out in the streets and then moving to Houston. That’s when I knew-the music was all I needed.”
So, equipped with a lifetime’s worth of lyrics, twenty-three year old Lil’ Mac, joined up with the “Texas hit men” - producers, Jaime, Solo, and Bird (to name a few) and relied on them to bring the hard-hitting beats that would eventually collaborate into the birth of From the Cracks to the Stacks, Lil’ Mac’s forthcoming, 15 -track, debut project, on LockDown Records.
From “Dead Homies” - a moving tribute to “soldiers from the streets” who have passed on and “I’m a Fool For You” - a tale of being blinded by love to “Do Yo’ Thang” - an updated cover of super producer and artist, the late Roger Troutman’s 1980’s hit: Lil’ Mac shows his strengths in his skill and versatility as a lyricist, a poet and a grad - A contender as a next big hit to come from Da’ Dirty South.
As a newcomer to the rap industry, is he really to carry such a powerful title, so early in the game?
“I’m ready and I’m coming to take over, proclaims Lil Mac.
And from the sound of things… his throne is in the making
Stay tuned!
